Poultry Brand Doesn't Chicken Out of Transparency Demands

Just BARE, a company that specializes in fresh, all-natural chicken, has passed the American Humane Certified standards to display a special seal on its labels.

With consumers increasingly demanding more transparency in regards to the way their foods are food is made, Just BARE decided now was the time to join the list of American Humane Association-certified producers, Packaging Digest reports.

"More and more, consumers are looking for brands that can prove their claims and are willing to open their operations up to third-party audit and review. In fact, verification of animal welfare was rated very/extremely important by 91 percent of the brand's target consumers," Julie Berling, director of brand advocacy and marketing for the firm, told the news source.

Food manufacturers have to go through a rigorous process to display the AHC seal, and Just BARE hopes the move to pass these standards shows its commitment to providing consumers with only high-quality, all-natural chicken.

Several other brands have worked with the AHC to improve the quality of their products. For example, Hellmann's uses AHC-certified eggs in its mayonnaise.
