NFL Teams Honor CT School Shooting Victims With Custom Stickers

Teams Place Custom Stickers On Helmets

Custom stickers that honor the victims of a recent tragedy may not be enough to ease the pain of many, but they are a fitting remembrance.

After a gunman opened fire at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, killing 20 children and six adults, National Football League teams took to the field with the tragedy heavy on their minds and represented on their helmets.

Both New York teams, the Giants and the Jets, wore helmet decals that included the school's initials, "S.H.E.S.," on the back of their helmets during the weekend's game following the shooting.

Patriots Wear Sticker Labels
As the closest team to the bereaved community, the New England Patriots also played their Sunday night game with heavy hearts. To show their support for Newtown, the Patriots wore sticker labels on the back of their helmets that included the city's seal and a black ribbon.

This wasn't the only tribute NFL players paid to those who lost their lives. Tennessee Titans running back Chris Johnson also wrote the names of every child on his shoes. All NFL games during the weekend observed a moment of silence for the victims before the opening kickoff.
