As part of their final task, contestants on the NBC television show "The Celebrity Apprentice" designed 7UP soda's new packaging, a throwback to a more retro look. The final two apprentices, Marlee Martin and John Rich, each created their own design, referencing an iconic look from the 1970s and 1980s. The packaging will be available for a limited time.
As part of the challenge, Matlin, Rich and their former opponents were required to create a brand design, 30-second TV spot and in-store marketing campaign. They had to plan a launch party to promote their packaging redesigns.
Additionally, the contestants included a charitable component in the campaign, partnering with 7UP to donate $50,000 to Matlin's charity, the Starkey Hearing Foundation, and Rich's, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
"The Starkey Hearing Foundation is very close to my heart," said Matlin in a statement. "I'm grateful to 7UP for the donation to my charity and look forward to seeing my packaging design in-stores nationwide. It was fun to flashback to the 1970s for this task."
